Our Departments





Accounting
Accounting is part of Corporate Finance and Administration.

Administrative
Administrative Services performs a broad range of duties supporting virtually every department of the organization. They coordinate and manage the many services that allow PMI to operate efficiently, such as reception, printing and reproduction, mail fulfillment and distribution, conference center reservations, home office personnel moves, personal property procurement, and much more.

Claims and Servicing
Servicing Operations and Claims consists of Policy Servicing, Loss Mitigation & Claims and Business Analytics. These groups manage all aspects of the mortgage insurance policy after origination until the policy is cancelled or a claim is paid. Collectively, they make sure PMI can collect premiums, support servicers and borrowers through our loss mitigation programs, and pay claims.

The Policy Servicing departments set up, track, and collect premiums, terminate policies, and report on our book of policies in force (PIF). Loss Mitigation & Claims manages the tracking of defaulted mortgages, works with insured lenders to minimize losses and investigate and pay claims. Business Intelligence and Analytics help all business functions obtain the information they need to make better decisions and communicate accurate business information.

Customer Service
Customer Service consistently provides excellent service to our lenders and other internal and external customers by responding to customer questions, resolving customer issues, and providing information about PMI’s master policies, individual certificates, and PMI’s guidelines.

Finance
Members of Corporate Finance and Administration are committed to the ongoing enhancement of a world-class corporate finance team. The department’s oversight includes investments and asset management, corporate treasury services, global taxation, investor and public relations, capital planning and analysis, management of the rating agencies, financial analysis and expense management, corporate-wide GAAP, SEC, and statutory accounting and reporting, as well as corporate real estate and facilities administration.

Human Resources
The primary function of the Human Resources team is to attract, develop and retain top talent at PMI. It supports the overall employee experience from recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, all the way through professional growth and development. Departments within Human Resources consist of HR Business Partner, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, Recruiting, Information Systems, Organizational Development, Internal Communications, Learning Services, and Meetings & Events.

Information Technology
PMI’s Corporate Technology Solutions group (CTS) plans, develops and supports core technologies with strategic impact for the PMI Group and ensures that the company's technology successes are dependably safeguarded. CTS provides computing and telecommunications technology support services, including enterprise architecture planning, technology product management, business analysis, software application development, distributed computing support, Enterprise Resource Planning, database technologies, voice and data communications, infrastructure support and operations, and information security.

Legal
The Legal department provides legal counsel to business functions across PMI. Our attorneys and team members provide timely and practical advice and information to help PMI employees process transactions efficiently, develop and enhance key relationships, advocate the company’s positions, and mitigate losses.

Marketing and Public Relations
Marketing supports PMI through the promotion of sustainable mortgage insurance products for borrowers and our customers. This group is divided into Marketing and Strategic Marketing. Public Relations works closely with senior leadership to communicate information about PMI to the public.

Product Development
Product Development supports PMI through the development and management of sustainable mortgage insurance products.

Risk Management
Risk Management is responsible for ensuring the loans PMI insures are within portfolio risk tolerances. PMI’s Risk Management department helps the company to: understand and optimize its risk exposure and potentially help raise capital; maximize the quality and confidence of stakeholders in our forecasts, reserves, prices and credit policies; and construct and distribute analyses that will aid decision-making across the organization.

Sales
Our National Sales team is the driving force of revenue for PMI through new insurance written (NIW). The team is divided into two production channels – national accounts and field sales. Each has a strategic focus that helps PMI grow its position in the marketplace, and the teams work interdependently to support our relationships with our customers from large mortgage loan aggregators to local banks.

Tax
Tax is part of our Corporate Finance and Administration department.

Underwriting Operations
National Underwriting Risk and Operations manages underwriting and ensures optimal risk, while providing excellent service to our customers. They work with other departments to develop processes that support this effort. Departments within this group include National Account Risk & Operations, Regional Risk Operations, Field Operations (including Regional Operations Centers and the Electronic Business Unit), Internal Risk Support, Field Education and Remedy Resolution.
