What is the name of the book I need to read for phone counseling?

A

The book is “Becoming a Successful Homeowner [PDF] (available in English [PDF] and Spanish [PDF]).

In which languages is phone counseling available?

A

Phone counseling is available in English, Spanish, and Russian. Please check with the appointment desk for any other languages that may be available.

How do I know if my book order was received by PMI?

A

Upon order placement, a pop-up screen will appear to confirm your request.

Where do the books ship from, how long will it take to receive?

A

The books are shipped via ground service from Walnut Creek, CA. Overnight shipping is available upon receipt of requestor’s carrier preference (Airborne, FedEx, etc.) and account #. [Note: Requestor must cover the cost for overnight shipping.]

How long does the phone counseling take?

A

A. Phone sessions take approximately 20-30 minutes. In order to schedule an appointment, please call CCCS at 800-632-7663 once you’ve finished reading the course material. Same day appointments may be available; otherwise, you will be scheduled within 48 hours.

When phone counseling is completed, when will the broker/lender receive the completion certificate?

A

As long as the borrower has provided the fax number for the broker/lender, CCCS will fax the completion certificate that same day.

   

Q

If a borrower is purchasing a 2-4 unit property, do I need to complete landlord counseling and pre-purchase counseling?

A

No, you only need to read the “Becoming a Landlord” guide and complete the landlord counseling by phone.

   

Q

If there are multiple borrowers on the note, do all borrowers need to complete counseling?

A

No, only one of the borrowers needs to complete the counseling course; however, all borrower names will be included on the completion certificate.
