MakingHomeAffordable.gov: The Treasury Department estimates that as many as 9 million American families may be eligible to refinance or modify their mortgage loans through the Making Home Affordable program. This government website provides the information needed to assess eligibility for the program, including Frequently Asked Questions and self-assessment tools.
